TelehealthSince the beginning of the pandemic I have moved all my sessions to Telehealth appointments only. Health concerns aside, Telehealth has proven to be a convenient and reliable platform. Telehealth clients appreciate the ability to connect remotely from the comfort of their home, office, or car (parked, of course)!

Fees and Insurance
Each session is $150. I accept cash, checks, and credit/debit cards (including HSA cards).
Insurance I am In Network with a number of insurance panels. Please call the number on the back of your card to verify if I am in network or not. If for whatever reason your insurance policy does not pay, you are responsible for the full out of pocket rate. Out of Network: If you wish to use your out of network benefits, I can provide you with a superbill, which you may submit to your insurance provider to be applied toward your deductible or for reimbursement. It is the client's responsibility to determine out of network eligibility and to coordinate reimbursement from your insurance provider. |
What to Expect
Your initial session is called an Intake Session. This isn't technically a therapy session. Your intake session will include what is called a "psychosocial assessment." I will collect as much information about your life and your situation as possible to plan your course of treatment. This may include your current living situation, your employment, your family history, or any relevant information about your life that seems to be having an effect on your presenting issues.
Once your intake is completed, you will commence therapy on a weekly basis. The length of therapy is determined by a number of factors. I will work with you toward stated goals and measure progress along the way. Some people find only a few weeks of therapy is sufficient and others may pursue therapy for several months, especially if they are working toward changing longstanding patterns. The treatment modality that I use is called Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. ACT (said as a word, not as initials) is a mindfulness-based behavioral therapy that maximizes human potential for living a rich and meaningful life, while effectively and mindfully handling unwanted thoughts and feelings. The aim of ACT is to create psychological flexibility, or the ability for mindful, values-guided action. This is a quite active form of therapy, not just talking about problems or "re-living" the past. A big part of this therapy is learning new skills, so you will likely have actions steps to work on between sessions. You will clarify your freely chosen values and learn how to live in alignment with your truest self. It's important to understand that growth and comfort cannot co-exist. At times you will be challenged to be courageous and to stretch out of your comfort zone for the sake of growth and movement toward your values. Making the choice to start therapy is a big decision. I am honored that you would consider having me on your journey to greater health and happiness. If you have questions before scheduling your initial intake session, feel free to email me at jcarrasco.lpc@gmail.com and I will be happy to provide you with any information you may need. |
